Groundskeeper - Irrigation
Springfield College invites applications for a full-time Groundskeeper - Irrigation for the Department of Facilities and Campus Services.
This position is responsible for the safe, professional, reliable, efficient, environmentally-sound, and cost-effective maintenance of the grounds on the Springfield College campus.
Responsibilities for this position include: irrigation, landscaping and turf, garden, tree maintenance; herbicide spraying, fertilizing, seeding, and aerating, raking, weeding, and sweeping. Perform seasonal tasks as needed, including leaf-pick-up, shoveling, clearing snow and ice from walks, stairs, and pathways.
Qualifications include high school diploma or the equivalent preferably in an institutional setting with five years of experience working the design, installation, and maintenance of irrigation systems and related equipment. Have an understanding of various outdoor/grounds trades. Ability to use standard machines, step ladders and lifting equipment. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job including but not limited to walking around campus, climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolds or platforms, lifting/carrying heavy objects and working in confined spaces. Must have the ability to work independently. Must have current Massachusetts pesticide license or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment. Certified Irrigation Technician license preferred.
Must have a valid drivers license.
