Port Corpus Christi (PCCA) is currently seeking a dynamic individual to assist with the long term strategic mission of the PCCA. The qualified individual performs welding and plumbing as primary functions and assists other technicians with various maintenance skilled trades in a safe, timely and responsible manner.
» Assists or assumes duties in cutting and threading galvanized, black steel, cast iron pipe using cutters, oxy/acetylene torch or threading machine
» Assists or assumes duties in cutting and welding of plate or pipes to fabricate or make repairs to metal components using plasma cutter, welders, oxy/acetylene torch, chop saw, grinder and various power tools
» Assists or assumes duties in installing and repairing plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, water heaters, garbage disposals, faucets, opening clogged drains etc…
» Assists or assumes duties with minor to major plumbing repairs to water supplies, drains and fire hydrants
» Assists with inspections of back flow prevention devices and assists with inspections and repairs to wet and dry fire suppression systems and alarms
» Assists with minor to major dock repairs
» Assists with basic electrical, carpentry, painting or mechanical work to achieve maximum departmental efficiency
» Assures work area, tools and equipment are cleaned upon completion of assignments
» Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness, and complies with all applicable safety environmental procedures and regulations.
» Adheres to PCC policy, emulates SEAPORT core values and maintains good, positive employee and customer relations
» Drives vehicles as necessary to complete assigned tasks and works required hours to fulfill position objectives
» Functions in pre or post-disaster preparedness as a Tier II employee
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
»While performing duties, this position requires walking and standing on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day, Climbing stairs, ramps and ladders and work stand, reaching, using hand to finger movements, bend elbow/knew and reach above/below shoulders; frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and lift and/or move up to 50 Pounds.
» Exposure to adverse weather conditions, fumes and/or airborne particles, high precarious places and risk of electrical shock. Moderate noise levels and moving mechanical parts are present.
» Ability to operate a light-weight highway vehicles and standard office equipment.
Education & Credentials
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment
Possess valid class “C” Texas driver’s license, CDL a plus
Experience & Job Knowledge
» Experience joining metals using arc/mig welding or soft solder techniques preferred
» Proficient in excavation equipment such as back hoes/front loaders, skid steer, jack hammers, water pumps and use of basic hand tools such as shovels, probes, picks etc… Minimum 2 years experience in duties outlined

Ability to speak, read and understand English.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before employees.
Ability to perform mathematical computations (i. e. rate, ratio and percent) in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Must possess considerable judgment to safety and efficiently operate and maintain equipment.
Ability to communicate clearly with staff and clients.
