We are seeking an experienced Director of Mechanical Engineering with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering to lead the design and development of new domestic food manufacturing plants. This role will be pivotal in supporting company growth by overseeing mechanical systems, driving innovation, and ensuring that new facilities meet operational, regulatory, and sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Lead mechanical engineering initiatives tied to U.S. plant expansion projects.
- Partner with executive leadership on site selection, plant layouts, and capital investment planning.
- Translate business growth goals into practical, scalable engineering solutions.
New Plant Development
- Oversee mechanical design, specification, and commissioning for new U.S. food production plants.
- Ensure facility layouts optimize production flow, sanitation, and worker safety.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and equipment suppliers to deliver turnkey facilities.
Process & Technology Implementation
- Integrate state-of-the-art processing and packaging equipment to improve efficiency.
- Introduce automation and advanced mechanical systems to support scalability.
- Drive sustainability initiatives in energy use, utilities, and waste reduction.
Project Management
- Direct multi-million-dollar domestic capital projects, managing budgets and timelines.
- Lead cross-functional engineering teams through design, construction, and start-up.
- Act as primary liaison between the company, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Regulatory & Safety Compliance
- Ensure all facilities comply with U.S. FDA, USDA, OSHA, and GMP standards.
- Develop maintenance and reliability programs to ensure long-term plant performance.
Team Development
- Build and mentor an internal team of engineers and plant technicians.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical rigor, and innovation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required); Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering leadership in food manufacturing or food processing.
- Proven track record in designing, building, and commissioning new U.S. plants.
- Strong expertise in process equipment, utilities, automation, and mechanical infrastructure.
- Deep knowledge of domestic food safety and manufacturing regulations.
- Exceptional leadership and project management skills.
