The Service Supervisor is responsible for developing a team that will effectively and profitably handle customer requests for service and grow the service agreement portfolio to plan levels. This service supervisor will develop his / her team to be productive in the field by standardizing processes in the department and focusing on customer and employee satisfaction. 
 
This position plays an integral role in the profitable execution of sold service work for the service group. To that end, he / she will work with sales and management to estimate and propose service work that lines up with the company vision and financial objectives. 
 
This position will assist in managing the labor load for the service department and manage how to deploy, execute and manage our service base efficiently. This individual seeks new, safe and effective methods to grow our service department. 
 
The end result is a team-oriented, customer satisfaction driven, profitable service department.
 
General Duties and responsibilities:

<li>Insure service team schedules and executes contractual obligations</li>

Founded in 1831, and now visited by over 200,000 people each year, Mount Auburn is a National Historic Landmark, recognized as the first “rural cemetery” and the inspiration for the American Parks Movement during the 19th century. As an active cemetery, Mount Auburn inspires all who visit, comforts the bereaved, and commemorates the dead in a landscape of exceptional beauty. As an accredited arboretum, Mount Auburn features 5,000 trees and more than 20,000 plants overall. 
Role and Responsibilities:
Performs tree maintenance, including pruning, cabling, fertilizing, planting, spraying, injecting and tree removals.&nbsp; Climbs with rope and saddle and operates an aerial lift.&nbsp; Performs a variety of other arboricultural and horticultural tasks as needed, such as plant pest monitoring and shrub pruning. 
<ul>
<li>Perform all necessary tree pruning, removals, storm damage repairs, cabling, and other tree work.</li>
<li>Operate aerial lift, climb with rope and saddle, handle chipper, chainsaw, and hydraulic sprayer, stump grinder and Bobcat in a safe and proper manner</li>
<li>Perform I.P.M. and plant health care functions, including pest monitoring, spraying pesticides, tree injections, and all required record keeping</li>
<li>Perform routine maintenance on arboriculture department equipment such as brush chipper, spray rig, stump grinder, and chain saws including: sharpening chains, replacing blades, changing oil, replacing air filters and applying grease.</li>
<li>Plant and transplant trees and shrubs.&nbsp; Guy and stake trees as needed.</li>
<li>Aerial rescue another arborist in an emergency</li>
<li>Uses hand pruners, handsaw, pole saw, pole pruner and a variety of small battery operated and gas-powered equipment.</li>
<li>Trains other fulltime, seasonal and intern staff as necessary.</li>
<li>Fertilize and treat trees or shrubs by various industry methods.</li>
<li>.&nbsp; Assist with the general operation and organization of the Recycling Area.</li>
<li>Assist with snow removal as necessary</li>
<li>Responsible for correctly using an automated method (time badges) for the purpose of time and attendance recordkeeping.&nbsp; Employees are only authorized to use their own personal swipe badge.</li>
<li>May be required to perform other duties as requested by the Director of Horticulture Operations to assist other Sections or Departments</li>
<li>Follow all Cemetery safety policies and procedures related to assigned tasks, including wearing personal protective equipment (eye and hearing protecting, gloves, etc.), proper handling of chemicals, ladder safety, and lifting and moving heavy objects.&nbsp; Bring unsafe conditions to the attention of the Arboriculture Supervisor and make suggestions to improve safe working practices.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications and physical demands include but are not limited to:&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>One to Two years of arborist experience</li>
<li>Degree in Arboriculture or Horticulture preferred</li>
<li>Heavy work that includes moving, adjusting, or carrying objects weighting up to 80 pounds on a frequent basis</li>
<li>Position involves moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments for extended periods of time including, remaining in a stationary position and/or performing activities such as climbing, bending, twisting, reaching, and pulling.</li>
<li>Ability to work outdoors in all seasons including harsh weather conditions</li>
<li>Massachusetts Certified Arborist or ISA Certified preferred</li>
<li>Core Pesticide Applicator's License must be obtained within six months after date of hire. </li>
<li>DOT medical card required. </li>
<li>Driver’s License Required. CDL Class B License preferred</li>
<li>Massachusetts Hoisting License 2A preferred</li>
<li>Core Pesticide Applicator's License preferred</li>

Hours of Work: 
7:30 AM to 3:30 PM from Monday to Friday.&nbsp; Occasional evenings and weekends as required.&nbsp;
