Experience:
High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required. MAP certification a must, but we also provide this paid training. If not already certified, you must be willing and able to pass within a certain time-frame from date of transfer. Think Tank is a woman-owned small business with more than 27 years of proven success delivering exceptional IT, consulting, and marine services to the federal government. We are currently seeking an ideal candidate for the position of Acoustic Analyst to support an upcoming proposal with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Résumé of successful candidate(s) will be included with our proposal. 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Collect and analyze passive acoustic data (archival and real time) to assess the distribution, occurrence, behavior and habitat use of marine mammals, fish species, anthropogenic sound sources and/or soundscapes using a combination of manual and automated acoustic detectors.</li>
<li>Improve and evaluate the performance of automated acoustic detectors. </li>
<li>Coordinate and assist with real time acoustic evaluation efforts as needed.</li>
<li>Evaluate data quality and contribute to the relevant database efforts including the Passive Acoustic Cetacean Map (PACM) web application.</li>
<li>Contribute to the integration and analysis of visual, oceanographic and acoustic datasets.</li>
<li>Synthesize and present results at relevant conferences and other venues. Contribute to the cruise report, permit applications, manuscripts and presentations.</li>
<li>Oversee or contribute to passive acoustic field operations, prepare for and de-stage field projects as needed. </li>
<li>Use and maintain government provided equipment, protocols (such as for data collection, recording, and editing, processing, and archiving), manuals, training, and electronic data entry systems.</li>
<li>Maintain existing passive acoustic hardware and/or assist in construction of new hardware, including bottom-mounted and mobile devices such as towed hydrophone arrays and drifting recorders.</li>
<li>Assist with education and outreach activities.</li>
<li>Assist with Project Lead activities including helping to develop project data collection, analytical approaches and write up of scientific manuscripts. </li>
<li>Support field work efforts at sea and may be required to travel to relevant conferences, workshops, or meetings</li>

Level 1:

<li>Masters degree in a relevant area and 5 years of experience. </li>
<li>Significant experience with acoustic analysis software platforms, such as Raven, Ishmael, Pamguard, Triton, Pamguide, and other acoustic software programs. </li>
</ul>
Level 4:
<ul>
<li>PhD in a relevant area and 10+ years of experience. </li>
<li>Significant experience with acoustic analysis software platforms, such as Raven, Ishmael, Pamguard, Triton, Pamguide, Pamguide, and other acoustic software programs.</li>
<li>Experience with Python, Github, R software, and other open source software is highly desirable.</li>
<li>Experience giving presentations, report writing, and scientific publications.</li>
