Solid Biosciences is seeking an experienced scientist to join our Downstream Process Development (DSPD) team. The DSPD team is responsible for the development, optimization, and technology transfer of the downstream purification processes of Solid’s gene therapy portfolio. The candidate will be a key collaborator in the company’s cross-functional deliverables, working with other groups such as Manufacturing Sciences &amp; Technology for scale-up and tech transfer, Analytical Development in pursuit of industry-leading AAV product quality, Research &amp; Development for designing next-generation purification schemes for novel delivery methods, and Upstream Process Development in the classic two-way collaboration between Process Development’s cell culture and purification sciences teams.
This role will focus on novel research and engineering efforts to invent and/or develop cutting-edge AAV purification technologies with a focus on scalable methods to enrich for high-potent AAV. As Solid continues to advance in the gene therapy space, this task will evolve to additional complex separations (e.g. removal of partially-filled capsids, separation of PTM variants such as deamidated species, and so on). The ability to continuously formulate new DSPD research topics and execute on them experimentally in continued pursuit of industry-leading AAV product quality and manufacturing cost of goods is key.
While this position will focus primarily on novel separations development, there will be ample need for the classical array of DSPD tasks. As such, laboratory mastery of DSPD fixtures such as programming ÄKTA FPLC methods, building and operating TFF skids, statistically-driven Design of Experiments, and sound scale-up principles is a must.

Job Description 
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated in vivo biologist to join our Circuit Biology team within Discovery Psychiatry. The successful candidate will play a key role in facilitating insights of circuit dysfunction in psychiatric disorders and treatment. This is an excellent opportunity to work at the forefront of psychiatry drug discovery research, contributing to target validation and compound profiling studies within a dynamic and collaborative team. &nbsp;
Key Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Independently conceive, execute, and communicate original technical ideas and novel multi-disciplinary research that achieves project and area goals.</li>
<li>Drive internal in vivo rodent electroencephalography (EEG) efforts by developing and optimizing recording strategies</li>
<li>Develop and maintain in vivo behavior and EEG technology, methodology, and utility in psychiatric drug discovery.</li>
<li>Generate, through lab-based activities EEG and behavioral endpoints to support projects</li>
<li>Ensure alignment of efforts with the broader goals of cross-functional teams</li>
<li>Present findings to internal teams and external collaborators or conferences</li>
<li>Contribute to strategic decision-making in psychiatry drug discovery</li>
<li>Provide scientific guidance and training to junior scientists and research associates</li>

Qualifications 
Required Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and typically, 10 years of experience, Master’s Degree or equivalent education and typically 8 years of experience, PhD and no experience necessary.</li>
<li>Extensive experience in rodent EEG surgical techniques, recordings, and analyses.</li>
<li>Demonstrated expertise in the design and execution of hypothesis-driven studies related to synaptic and circuit function</li>
<li>Ability to process and interpret large datasets using appropriate software tools</li>
<li>Strong ability to work in cross-functional teams and effectively communicate scientific finding</li>
</ul>

<li>Desired Qualifications</li>
<li>Previous industry experience within early discovery, preferably within psychiatry research</li>
