POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Think Tank is a woman-owned small business with more than 27 years of proven success delivering exceptional IT and marine fisheries services to the federal government. We are currently seeking an ideal candidate for the position of Marine Biologist to support an upcoming proposal with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Résumé of successful candidate(s) will be included with our proposal.
The Marine Biologist contributes scientific expertise to support the research, assessment, and conservation of marine species including marine mammals, sea turtles, seabirds, and pinnipeds. This position involves both fieldwork and laboratory/data analysis responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct population and ecological studies using visual, acoustic, and satellite data.
- Participate in tagging, biological sampling, health assessments, and telemetry deployments.
- Analyze behavioral, health, and distributional data using quantitative and spatial models.
- Contribute to field planning, equipment maintenance, and data archiving.
- Assist with scientific writing, presentations, and outreach.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in marine biology, ecology, or related field. PhD preferred.
- Experience with marine species identification, tagging, and field sampling.
- Familiarity with acoustic analysis tools (e.g., Raven, Pamguard) and programming (Python, R).
- Ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork under variable condition
- Experience with animal handling and small boat operations is a plus.
