Founded in 1913, the Guild of St. Agnes is the largest early education and care agency in Central Massachusetts serving almost 2,000 children in our centers and programs which are fully licensed by the MA Department of Early Education & Care (EEC). Our mission is to provide families with quality, affordable early childhood education and school age programs in a safe, nurturing environment.

The Kitchen Assistant is a Full Time 30 hr/week role floating between our programs. This person will be responsible for helping prepare a high volume of meals and snacks for our early childcare and education program as well as deliver to our centers. They will follow established guidelines for kitchen safety and procedures, and ensure compliance with Federal, State, local government and agency expectations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Participate in food preparation, cooking, baking, and applying a solid understanding of allergies regarding food and health protocols.
  • Monitor food safety and sanitation procedures, purchase goods and supplies, and stock inventory.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen informing the Center Director when additional support is needed.
  • Transport deliveries to south county centers

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar food preparation role is strongly preferred, as is current or previous Serve Safe certification
  • Exhibit emotional maturity and sound judgment skills.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to walk, sit, bend, push, stretch and in an emergency take quick physical action including ability to lift 40 pounds.
  • Proof of MMR vaccinations
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must complete and maintain successful Background Record Check, complete a satisfactory physical within 6 months, as well as maintain current first aid and CPR training.
