Job DescriptionMaterial Handler & Shipping Specialist (High-Volume Operations)
Location: onsite - Waltham, MA
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Material Handler to join our operations team. This critical role is responsible for ensuring our customers receive superior service and quality products by managing the complete sales order fulfillment and shipping lifecycle for both domestic and international orders. Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Picking Accuracy: Proactively locate and accurately pick material as specified on pick lists or work orders, ensuring materials match documentation, part numbers, and piece counts.
Order Fulfillment: Own the end-to-end process for the timely and accurate shipment of finished goods, raw materials, and subcomponents to meet our On-Time Delivery (OTD) commitments.
Shipping Expertise: Perform complex domestic and international shipping functions, including accurately labeling, packaging, and entering all required data into the system. Schedule shipments and consolidate loads using various packaging techniques and freight forwarders.
Quality & Compliance: Maintain a focus on quality assurance and low error rates; safely package goods to prevent damage and ensure proper documentation is complete. Proactively identify and document non-conforming material and adhere to all product quality procedures.
Operational Support: Utilize handheld barcode scanners for inventory transactions, manage the accurate flow of materials, and support the maintenance of stated inventory accuracy levels.
Teamwork & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, uphold safe work practices, and effectively communicate discrepancies or potential problems to the supervisor. Work effectively with cross-functional teams including Sales, Finance, and Supply Chain.
Qualifications
Proven experience in a high-volume warehouse or logistics environment, preferably focusing on order fulfillment and shipping.
Requires the ability to multi-task with flexibility between departments based on daily workload.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and maintain high standards of service.
Familiarity with inventory control systems, barcode scanners, and processing outgoing mail/packages (e.g., mail center machines).
Experience or willingness to participate in Lean and Continuous Improvement programs.
Dedication to meeting or exceeding Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for picking accuracy and on-time delivery improvements.
Must demonstrate a commitment to teamwork, problem-solving, and providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
