Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Springfield, Mass. The successful candidate will lead geotechnical investigations, foundation design, and analysis for a variety of projects including commercial, institutional, industrial, and public infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute geotechnical site investigations, including designing and overseeing subsurface explorations (borings, test pits, sampling).
- Analyze soil, rock, and groundwater data to assess subsurface conditions.
- Perform geotechnical engineering analyses such as bearing capacity, settlement estimates, slope stability, and earth retention design.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical engineering reports, foundation recommendations, and construction specifications.
- Collaborate with environmental, civil, and structural engineering teams to integrate geotechnical findings into project designs.
- Review contractor submittals and provide construction phase support including field observations and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and client standards.
- Mentor junior staff and assist in business development activities including client meetings and proposal preparation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional geotechnical engineering experience, preferably in consulting.
- Ability to work on onsite schedule in Springfield, Mass.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software tools (e.g., GEO5, PLAXIS, gINT, or similar).
- Strong technical writing skills with experience preparing professional reports.
- Familiarity with local/state codes, OSHA regulations, and environmental permitting processes.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites as needed.
