Young Americans Coordinator FLSA

Status: Exempt

Position Summary: Young Americans Coordinator

This position plays a key role in expanding the opportunity for college students, early career Americans, law students and other young citizen leaders to participate in our movement. The Young Americans Coordinator is the architect of and program lead for our efforts to recruit and activate Young Americans in priority states and across the country. Working closely with the Director of Partnerships & Coalitions and the American Promise States Team, the leader in this position must enjoy both building broad, large-scale programming and cultivating deep, targeted relationships. This position requires a passion for bridging political divides, unearthing our common ground, and inspiring and uniting young Americans in our mission. American Promise is a rapidly adapting organization, and this role will evolve as the organization and its strategy evolve. Travel to various states can be expected.

Reports to: Director of Partnerships & Coalitions

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategies to recruit, engage, and inspire college students, early career Americans, law students and other young citizen leaders in our work, particularly in our target states
  • Plan and lead events around the country and virtually that activate key constituencies of Young Americans, including incorporating Young Americans into American Promise conferences and gatherings
  • Manage relationships with highly-engaged Young Americans to train them and position them to support time-sensitive needs in target states, including lobby days where appropriate
  • Build the leadership capacity of a dedicated cohort of Young Americans to support the American Promise mission and provide back-end support for Young Americans-initiated events around the country
  • Along with the Communications department, develop and support the communications strategy for engaging Young Americans and elevating their voices
  • Wear many hats to support the Partnerships & Coalitions Team and American Promise broadly to accelerate our mission

Key Qualifications:

  • A commitment to and excitement for the American Promise mission, goal, and values, especially our cross-partisan, right-to-left approach.
  • Recent college graduate with extracurricular or work experience in political campaigns, organizing, and/or advocacy
  • Adaptability to a rapidly evolving strategy
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals
  • Strong communications skills, including organizational, conversational, presenting, and writing skills, with the ability to inspire hope and articulate the mission, goals, and progress of American Promise
  • Impeccable at follow-up in a way that moves contacts from being aware of us to being raving fans and partners
  • Excellent political acumen and judgment
  • Ability to be a self-starter and initiator, working both independently and collaboratively on a team, and both contributing to and leading projects
  • Exceptionally organized with a track record of managing projects and solving problems
  • Learns proactively, receives feedback gracefully, and contributes feedback to the team
  • Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Must possess integrity, sound judgment, maturity, and a sense of humor
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Salesforce, and LinkedIn a plus

Essential Functions:
