TITLE: CONGREGATE DINING CENTER MANAGER - (Bernardston Senior Center)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Congregate Dining Center Manager will be responsible for the overall operations of the Congregate Dining Center to include supervision of volunteers. The Congregate Dining Center is located in Bernardston, MA at the senior center. The role is scheduled for 9am to 1pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Pleasant demeanor and collaborative nature; Excellent oral and written communication skills

Experience working with elders; prior experience in food service and/or cooking

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Familiarity with the local social service network

Accurate mathematical and record keeping skills

Must be ServSafe certified or be willing to take a course and test to be ServSafe certified. LifePath pays for this certification.
DUTIES:
1. Manage all Dining Center operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Supervision of volunteers

Taking and recording advance meal reservations
-
Ensure the proper handling of food in alignment with LifePath’s food safety and sanitation procedures

Checking and ensuring proper food temperatures prior to serving food and ensure proper portion control
Serve meals and clean up following the meal

Report any inventory, safety, and other programmatic issues to site Nutrition Program Director
-
Requisitioning Dining Center supplies as needed
2. Provide data on nutrition services to the Program Director as needed
3. Provide ongoing outreach services by:

Seeking out and identifying hard-to-reach, isolated and withdrawn elders
-
Providing information to them on the nutrition program and other Home Care services
4. Serve as a liaison to outside agencies/individuals providing supportive services at the Dining Center, and work cooperatively with the Senior Center Director and the Council on Aging
5. Attend staff meetings or training sessions as designated by the Nutrition Program Director
6. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Nutrition Program Director
SUPERVISION:
The Congregate Dining Center Manager reports to the Nutrition Program Director

Physical:
Visual, speaking, auditory and mobile capacity necessary:
Capacity to hear and speak on the telephone.
Capacity to communicate verbally with consumers, caregivers, supervisors and managers.
Capacity to climb stairs
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Occasional reaching and grabbing objects with both hands, twisting of hand and wrist, and pushing and pulling of objects.
Occasional bending, squatting, and twisting to perform work functions.
Occasional capacity to lift up to 25 pounds.
Mental:
Ability to understand and/or interpret complicated program instructions and laws.
Capacity to deal rationally and calmly with varying personalities
Capacity to work well in fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
Environmental:
Work is indoors.
Must be able to tolerate variable indoor temperatures
Must be able to tolerate cleaning products associated with kitchen clean up and sanitation.
