General Fluidics is a clinical diagnostics company with a novel point-of-care instrument for simultaneous measurement of clinical chemistry, hematology and immunoassays from human and animal blood (https://www.generalfluidics.com). We are seeking a highly creative and broadly skilled laboratory Research Associate to help us build our growing menu of diagnostic assays for veterinary medicine and the in vitro device (IVD) market. You will play a key role in development and validation of new techniques and laboratory methods for this next generation clinical diagnostic system.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design, develop and validate new clinical chemistry, hematology and immunoassays on our point-of-care instrument using human and animal blood samples.

Independently design and execute laboratory experiments to optimize assay and instrument performance in close collaboration with our design engineers.

Complete statistical data analysis and evaluate assay and instrument performance to guide our analytical validation, regulatory clearance and commercial product launch.

Author experimental protocols, standard operating procedures and R&D reports.

Perform quality assurance through control protocols, instrument calibration and proficiency testing.

Practice safe laboratory methods complying with safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations.

Work safely with human and veterinary specimens under health and environmental regulations.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's or advanced degree in biotechnology, biomedical engineering, clinical laboratory science or related fields.

2 to 5 years commercial, hospital, veterinary or academic laboratory experience for bachelor's degree.

Experience independently designing and performing experiments, developing test protocols/procedures, and creating detailed reports with data processing and statistical analysis.

Experience with pipetting, basic chemistry formulations, biosafety cabinets.

Experience with clinical instrumentation (e.g., flow cytometry, hematology, clinical chemistry, immunoassays) preferred.

Exposure to quality control protocols and instrument calibration.

Ability to work under minimal supervision with high degree of technical competence and organizational attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

Competency with clinical (human) laboratory practices (e.g., GLP, CLIA, CAP), fundamental health principles and clinical interpretation of test values preferred. Veterinary experience a plus.

Concise communication of scientific concepts, data analysis, clinical interpretation and reporting.

Desire to learn and develop new technologies in a biotech R&D start-up.
