The EH&S Manager is responsible for leadership support to oversee Environmental, Health and Safety programs. This individual will manage/lead the EH&S function, providing strategic direction, leadership, and technical support to advance EH&S programs with a primary focus on compliance with all local, state, and federal related requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides leadership and builds partnership at the site across all levels of the organization to foster EH&S culture improvement.
- Partners with site leadership and supervision to ensure EH&S regulatory compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.
- Guides all employees to ensure adherence to company EH&S Procedures and Standard Practices.
- Works on cross-functional projects that interface with other groups, external to and within the core team.
- Provides timely risk assessments and adequate controls for EH&S processes.
- Assists in identifying Health & Safety hazards and the development of controls to mitigate risks, including ergonomic improvements.
- Conduct EH&S audits; audit compliance to policies and procedures and regulatory requirements; maintain and improve environmental regulatory compliance initiatives; evaluate the effectiveness of EH&S programs
- Manage worker’s compensation program, including claims management and return-to-work coordination.
- Works closely with site’s facility management services to ensure EH&S compliance.
- Provides timely information and guidance to the site leadership team and site EH&S council, including EH&S performance trends and root cause corrective actions for injuries and near misses.
- Drives action plans to meet and exceed aggressive EH&S goals.
- Leads and instructs EH&S training courses and ensures all required training is completed.
- Develops and implements strategic action plans to achieve the company goal of having a hazard-free workplace.
- Determination and implementation of environmental sustainability initiatives to minimize water use, greenhouse gas generation, hazardous waste generation, and increase the recycling rate.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/ BS degree in Environmental Safety and Health or related degree/ 5+ years’ experience
- Recognized Certification in Environmental, Safety or Health, Risk Management such as CIH, CSP, etc. (Desirable, but not required)
