The Assistant Director assists the Director of Residential Services in all aspects of the management of LUK’s congregate care programs for children, adolescents and young adults. The qualified candidate will model exemplary staff and program management skills and act as a member of the Residential Services leadership team. This position will supervise program managers, oversee regulatory and certification tasks, act as a primary contact with internal and external partners, attend agency-wide trainings and leadership events, and provide crisis management consultation and support to programs.


The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree, 5 years of work experience in residential services and 1 year of work experience in a supervisory position. A Master’s Degree in Human Services or other relevant area of study is preferred.


This is a full time, salaried position. The hours of this position are Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm with flexibility required to meet programmatic needs. This position participates in a rotation of supervisor support during evenings and weekends by qualifying supervisors.

Requirements:

Purpose:


The Assistant Director of Residential Services will advance the mission and vision of the organization by bringing collaborative leadership, effective staff supervision, and robust program management experience to LUK’s residential services. The Director will ensure that residential programs create therapeutic environments through adherence to performance and quality standards as well as a commitment to LUK’s core values. This position is instrumental in ensuring that all residential staff provide care that is compassionate, strength-based, trauma-informed, flexible, and responsive to the needs of children, families, and community partners.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist the Director with management of referrals/intakes, service planning and placement stability.
  • Uphold division initiatives, practices, and policies in all settings and act as a representative of the residential leadership team.
  • Model professional behavior, responsive communication, and collaborative relationships in all settings and with all partners.
  • Provide direct supervision of Residential Program Managers and other team members as assigned.
  • Ensure that all supervisees receive training and support during the 90-day orientation period and complete 90-day and annual performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with division leadership members to maintain adequate supervisory coverage during vacations, planned leave, or position vacancies.
  • Collaborate with LUK’s internal departments, including quality, IT, finance, HR, and administrative teams.
  • Oversee critical incident reporting to ensure that program documentation is accurate, adheres to reporting standards, and aligns with LUK policies and procedures.
  • Participate in all credentialing and licensing activities, including the development and implementation of quality improvement and corrective action plans.
  • Maintain effective partnerships with DCF, DEEC, and other external entities.
  • Provide effective consultation and support to residential teams during a crisis event and participate in the agency on call rotation for weekend and evening support.
  • Acquire a deep understanding and commitment to LUK’s Mission, Vision and Values and programming and advocacy

Job Location:

LUK’s Day St. Office in Fitchburg, MA with frequent travel to congregate care programs located in Fitchburg.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work environment including both in-person, office-based work as well as home-based subject to approval from the Director of Residential Services. This position is not eligible for a hybrid schedule during the first 90 days of employment.


Salary Range and Benefits:
Pay Grade: 6. Salary Range: $72,000 – $83,500. Salary ranges within each pay grade are based on qualifications, skills, and experience.

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of residential experience or
  • A Master’s Degree and 1 year of residential experience.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with youth and families.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
