We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant for our day-to-day financial operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, managing key accounting processes, and providing valuable financial insights to leadership. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including preparing and posting journal entries and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Analyze financial data and produce reports on financial status, explaining variances and providing recommendations to optimize financial performance.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including preparing schedules and liaising with auditors.
- Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to junior accounting staff, reviewing their work for accuracy.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement new procedures to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
- Ensure timely and accurate tax compliance and assist with tax return preparations.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4+ years of progressive experience in accounting.
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred qualifications
- CPA certification or actively pursuing.
- Experience with construction industry, tradeshow specific a plus.
- Experience with a multi-entity setting.
