POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Think Tank is a woman-owned small business with more than 27 years of proven success delivering exceptional marine and fisheries services to the federal government. We are currently seeking an ideal candidate for the position of Outreach and Education Specialist to support an upcoming proposal with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Résumé of successful candidate(s) will be included with our proposal.
The Outreach and Education Specialist will support the dissemination of NEFSC Protected Species Division research through public engagement, educational programming, and internal/external communications. The role involves translating complex scientific data into accessible content for diverse audiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and deliver outreach materials and presentations for public, academic, and stakeholder audiences.
- Participate in community engagement events and educational programs.
- Create web content, visual media, and informational brochures to promote PSD research.
- Coordinate with scientists to interpret data and research outcomes into engaging educational narratives.
- Support communication efforts for permit-related public reports and scientific findings.
- Contribute to the creation of proposals to support NEFSC Turtle Ecology projects, as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in science communication, marine biology, education, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in public outreach or education, preferably related to marine science.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including visual presentation design.
- Ability to translate scientific content for non-expert audiences.
- Experience with web content creation, video editing, or R Shiny applications is a plus.
