HR Generalist - Focus on Compliance & Employee Relations

Job DescriptionJob Summary:
The HR Generalist – Compliance & Employee Relations supports company-wide compliance and employee relations for a complex, multi-state TPA. This role ensures adherence to federal and multi-state employment laws, policies, and procedures, while providing guidance to managers and employees on employee relations issues. The Generalist also cross-trains across HR functions to support a cohesive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor compliance with federal and multi-state employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, wage/hour, etc.).
• Assist in the development and updates of employee handbooks, HR policies and trainings.
• Conduct employee relations investigations and document findings.
• Partner with managers on performance management and corrective action.
• Support training initiatives on compliance topics and manager responsibilities.
• Ensure consistency and fairness in employee relations practices.
• Prepare compliance-related reports and audit records as required.
• Cross-train across HR functions to provide support and ensure continuity of operations.
• Assist with federal and state audits, filings, and reporting as required (EEO-1, ACA, COBRA, etc.).
• Ensure company policies and practices are compliant with varying state-specific regulations including wage & hour, paid leave, and workplace postings.
• Serve as a neutral resource in employee conflict resolution and mediation.
• Assist in the development and delivery of compliance-related employee training (anti-harassment, workplace conduct, FMLA/ADA awareness).
• Track and analyze employee relations and compliance metrics to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
• Maintain and update required federal, state, and local labor law postings and ensure timely communication of updates to employees and managers.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5 years of HR compliance and employee relations experience in a multi-state environment.
• Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
• Preferred SHRM-CP or PHR; SHRM-SCP or SPHR a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and investigation skills.
• Experience drafting policies and handling employee relations matters.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Regular use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse is necessary; reasonable accommodations will be provided upon request.
• Employees should ensure an ergonomically appropriate desk and chair setup.
• Comfort with being on camera for virtual meetings (e.g., Microsoft Teams).

Compensation details: 75000-85000 Yearly Salary
