The Young Parent Support Specialist provides case management, parent education and support services to parents in our Young Parents Support (YPS) service within our Family Support & Stabilization (FSS) Program. YPS is a program aimed at increasing protective factors in parents under the age of 23 in the City of Boston.
HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
- Utilizing the protective factor framework, provide a range of interventions aimed at supporting family capacity to safely care for children in order to prevent DCF involvement or out-of-home
- Collaborate with parents and other supportive professionals in developing plans specifying resources and services needed, making referrals, and monitoring service provision.
- Facilitating groups, workshops and enrichment opportunities for young parents and their families.
- Supports parents in accessing, applying for and utilizing other services and resources (such as housing, SNAP, day care)
- Provides support to young parents in increasing life and vocational skills.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, education or a related field; and Minimum of one-years' experience providing case management and/or counseling services to children, adolescents and families; preference given to those with experience working with pregnant or parenting teens or young adults; *Bachelors degree can be substituted with associate degree and two years' experience in related field
- Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred, not required

- Valid driver's license and properly insured vehicle
