Job DescriptionWe are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our team in Waltham, Massachusetts. In this role, you will oversee multi-state payroll operations, employee data management, and benefits administration while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. This is a long-term contract position that offers the opportunity to contribute to the efficient management of payroll and benefits programs.

Responsibilities:
• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multi-state operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Handle state-specific payroll compliance, including wage laws, tax reporting, and unemployment insurance requirements.
• Process payroll adjustments, bonuses, commissions, and other variable compensation across multiple locations.
• Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure proper financial reporting and reconciliation of payroll data.
• Implement and oversee payroll system setup for new state registrations as business expands.
• Resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees and ensure timely and accurate responses.
• Administer benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and terminations, while maintaining compliance with regulations.
• Manage open enrollment processes and serve as the primary contact for benefits vendors and brokers.
• Facilitate employee education on benefits options and wellness programs.
• Participate in special HR projects and initiatives as assigned by management.• Bachelor’s degree in business management, human resources, or a related field is preferred.
• Certifications such as CPP or SHRM-CP are highly desirable.
• Proven experience in multi-state payroll administration and benefits management, with 5-7 years in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of HR policies, employment laws, and best practices.
• Familiarity with multi-state labor laws and compliance requirements.
• Experience with payroll/HR system implementation and data migration is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in using payroll systems and HR technology tools, such as Paycor.
