Position Summary:
Prepare accurate tax returns and other financial documents for individuals and businesses including completing work papers sufficient to support positions taken and information on the tax return. Review tax returns to support the firm quality assurance program. Perform attest engagements in accordance with regulatory requirements including generally accepted accounting principles. Prepare financial statements.
Essential Functions/Position Responsibilities:
§ Prepares income tax and other returns for businesses and individuals
§ Reviews various financial records including income statements, balance sheets, receipts and expenditures and previous tax returns to determine a strategy for preparing current returns
§ Prepares accurate and legible work papers in accordance with established firm procedures
§ Interviews clients to get information on deductible expenses, allowances and taxable income
§ Uses tax form instructions and tax tables to make proper entries on the tax form and compute the amount of taxes owed
§ Consults tax resources to obtain assistance with atypical returns
§ Verifies forms received from clients to check for errors or miscalculation
§ Maintains an accurate account of time spent for billing purposes
§ Takes continuing education courses to maintain licensure and stay current with federal and state tax codes
§ Perform other duties as responsibilities necessitate and as requested by the Partners.

Position Requirements:
Certified Public Accountant License or Candidate; Complete continuing education requirements annually as appropriate for work assignments
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
§ Has knowledge of tax law, legal codes, precedents, government regulations and Internal Revenue Service rules
§ Possesses knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
§ Displays exceptional mathematical skills and pays close attention to detail
§ Possesses excellent reading comprehension skills as well as superior problem solving abilities
§ Shows strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent organizational skills
§ Demonstrates sound judgment and has good decision-making abilities
§ Displays good office management skills (typing, filing and sorting data)
§ Has knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and tax-related terminology
§ Exhibits strong deductive reasoning skills
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
Professional Experience:
§ Minimum of 1 year related accounting and tax experience in public accounting.
