Job DescriptionOur client is seeking to add a Personal Lines Auto Underwriting Supervisor to help lead their New England team. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a team of underwriting professionals and support staff. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership capabilities, a solid background in Standard or Non-Standard Personal Lines Auto Insurance, and the ability to drive compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across the unit. This position will allow you to work remotely.
- Provide leadership, oversight, and daily supervision to a team of personal lines underwriters and support staff.
- Monitor workflow, productivity, and service levels to ensure underwriting operations align with company expectations.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching, feedback, and development plans to support individual and team growth.
- Review underwriting decisions and ensure compliance with internal guidelines, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
- Oversee the renewal review process and contribute to decision-making for continued coverage or non-renewal actions.
- Coordinate and prepare for internal and external audits, ensuring thorough documentation and proactive compliance practices.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve underwriting issues and implement operational improvements as needed.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- 5–7+ years of experience in personal lines underwriting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Strong knowledge of residual market insurance products and underwriting procedures.
- Proven experience leading high-performing teams and improving departmental efficiency.
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in insurance or related field preferred.
Salary and Benefits:
- $100,000 to $130,000 annual base salary, dependent on experience.
