Our client an Acton/Boxborough based construction company is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Part Time Staff Accountant to their team ASAP. This role is responsible for job cost tracking, invoice management, payroll support, and financial reporting to help ensure projects remain on budget and compliant with company and regulatory requirements.
This would be a part time 24 hour/week opportunity where ideally someone could do three days a week in office. Eventually it could turn into a hybrid role once both sides are comfortable with one another. The client is looking to go the temp to hire route with this opening but would also consider direct hire candidates as well.
Responsibilities Include:
- Record and track daily project expenses, invoices, and receipts
- Manage site-related accounts payable and receivable
- Review and verify subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and change orders
- Support payroll processing for site employees and subcontractors
- Maintain job cost reports and monitor project budgets
- Reconcile on-site financial records with head office accounting
- Ensure compliance with tax, labor, and construction regulations
- Prepare financial summaries and reports for project management
- Maintain organized and accurate on-site financial documentation
- Assist with implementation and use of financial/accounting software
- Coordinate with project managers, vendors, and corporate finance staff
Qualifications Needed:
- Experience in construction or job cost accounting preferred
- Understanding of construction billing, contracts, and cost controls
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a site-based environment
- Strong communication and coordination abilities
- Knowledge of local tax and labor regulations is an asset
This role requires a candidate who demonstrates strong technical accounting skills combined with effective communication abilities. The successful applicant will be committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy while supporting the organization’s financial integrity through diligent work. The client will move through the interview process quickly and will offer a rate in the high $20s-mid $30s per hour.
