Daily focus is working together on a General Tree Care crew to provide high quality tree care to our clients. The Tree Care Team is involved in all aspects of pruning, removals, cable bracing and other concepts related to tree care. The Crew Lead position is an additional level of specialty for select individuals who have demonstrated leadership qualities and received approval from the local branch management to provide direction in a work crew setting. Daily focus is working together on a General Tree Care crew to provide high quality tree care to our clients. The Tree Care Team is involved in all aspects of pruning, removals, cable bracing and other concepts related to tree care. Team members are able to safely operate all equipment and perform the assigned job tasks while also providing excellent service to our clients.
What kind of person are we looking for? Someone with:

<li>Employ ANSI A300 Pruning Standards and Terminology and ANSI Z safety.</li>
<li>Demonstrate knowledge of different tree species and different techniques necessary for climbing each tree including Oaks, Maples, Dogwoods, Apples (Crab vs. Regular), Hemlocks, Pines and Spruce.</li>
<li>Complete work exhibiting ability to raise a ladder, throw a rope, and safe techniques to climb into a tree.</li>
<li>Set up safely with proper placement of lowering lines in a strong enough crotch, know when to attach a tag line, and engage proper lowering techniques.</li>
<li>Know when to double crotch and use other appropriate techniques when working in trees.</li>
<li>Able to drop trees, know when to use ropes for take down and identify potential need to use spikes.</li>
<li>Perform aerial rescue if needed.</li>

Gibbet Hill Farm is now hiring seasonal field crew members for the 2025 growing season! The crew members will work with the farm manager and assistant manager on all aspects of field and greenhouse work, including field prep, seeding, planting, weeding, harvesting and wash/pack. Crew members also on occasion make restaurant deliveries and help with livestock. 
Gibbet Hill Farm (<a href="http://www.gibbethillfarm.com" target="_blank">http://www.gibbethillfarm.com</a>) is a 1.5 acre, minimal-till diversified farm located in Groton, MA. Our farm is part of the Webber Restaurant Group, an independent, family-owned restaurant group. We are primarily dedicated to supplying delicious organic produce to our chefs. We also operate a small 30 member CSA to local community members. In addition, we host a series of farm-to-table dinners throughout the growing season on site that are able to showcase the abundant and beautiful produce we grow and connect people with local food systems. On the farm we grow a mix of seasonal veggies, herbs, perennial fruits &amp; berries, microgreens, edible and cut flowers, along with raising a small herd of lambs and pigs and soon chickens. This will be our ninth season using a minimal till system and organic practices and we are growing stronger by the year.
 
 
Our season typically runs end of May through early October.

As a Horticulture Assistant, you’ll have the unique opportunity to contribute to two historic public gardens on the North Shore, each with their own distinct character. While at Stevens-Coolidge House &amp; Gardens, you may find yourself harvesting heirloom vegetables from the walled potager garden or weeding beautiful new entry gardens. At The Crane Estate, you may be training clematis along the walled Formal Garden or working with perennials in the garden border. Stevens-Coolidge House and Gardens is a historic 91-acre property with gardens including a potager garden, formal cutting garden, Italianate rose garden, perennial garden, orchard, meadows and the newly created Entry Garden composed of a mix of introduced and native pollinator friendly plantings, the greenhouse complex, and nursery. 
The Crane Estate is a 2,000-acre Country Place Era estate with a historic mansion and complimentary gardens built between 1909 and 1928. Cultivated gardens surround the mansion, garden beds surround an inn located on the property and, in addition, there is a greenhouse, a cutting garden and a holding area. 
The Role:
As Horticulture Assistant, you will conduct horticultural tasks in garden areas on the properties, greenhouse complex, and landscapes. You’ll work side by side with the site Horticulturist for these spaces, as well as with volunteers and other property staff. This position is a full-time role suited to a skilled professional gardener with an energetic, positive personality and strong work ethic. You will share your time between Stevens-Coolidge in North Andover and The Crane Estate in Ipswich and will report to each on-site Horticulturist. You will bring your professional fine-gardening skill and experience, passion for plants, attention to detail, and a positive, collaborative nature. You will work independently and as part of a team.
