Barre Group Fitness Instruction:

Requirements
Education and Experience: Requires a High School Diploma, College Degree preferred. Certification from an accredited organization in area of expertise, CPR/AED Certified and a Minimum 6 months Barre specific experience in teaching an exercise class in a group setting. Barre certification preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Certified Personal Trainer will be responsible for providing one-on-one and couples personalized fitness instruction in person to clients at their home, apartment gym or outside while encouraging them to reach their fitness goals. Responsibilities are as follows:

Job DescriptionDescriptionGroup Exercise Instructor Job Description&nbsp;Reporting to the Health and Wellness Director and working with other Wellness staff, the Group Exercise Instructor instructs group exercise classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes all skill and fitness levels. Effectively builds community within class. Modifies class as needed to meet varied health, ability and cultural needs. The YMCA is actively seeking a group exercise instructor who can be a leader in developing sound healthy habits with our members through engaging leadership in our classes.&nbsp; We are currently accepting applicants for all varieties of group exercise offerings as we continue to build the offerings to meet the needs of our growing members. &nbsp; &nbsp;The qualified candidate will have the ability to lead a group of participants through a series of movements and exercises in a safe and effective manner.&nbsp; The candidate must hold a current certification in Group Exercise from a nationally certifying body.&nbsp; NCCA accredited certifications are preferred. &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;Schedule:&nbsp; Part Time Hours Key ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:

<li>Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to provide high quality experiences for our members and guests.</li>
<li>Asks and answers questions from program participants and members to support them in achieving their goals related to health and well-being.</li>
<li>Through YUSA courses and external training, maintains working knowledge of wellness trends to provide effective information and support to members.</li>
<li>Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA.</li>
<li>Observes and adjusts approach to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture.</li>
<li>Celebrates achievement of program participants related to program or personal goals, mastering of specific skills or overall health and well-being.</li>
<li>Keeps accurate class attendance records through our online Group Exercise Management software. (MotionVibe)</li>
<li>Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations</li>
<li>Resolves member issues professionally and in alignment with YMCA values.</li>

 Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: &nbsp;
<ol>
<li>At least one year of experience in Group Exercise setting.</li>
<li>NCCA accredited certification. Ex. ACE, AFFA, NASM, NSCA, ISSA etc.</li>
<li>If teaching a specific group exercise format, current certification required. Examples: Yoga, Spin, Les Mills Body Pump and Body Combat</li>
<li>Experience in health and wellness programming and group instruction.</li>
<li>Understanding of internal and external marketing/special events.</li>
</ol>
 &nbsp;SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES/KNOW HOW:
<ol>
<li>Understand the relationship of the public to the association, of staff to volunteer, and of staff to staff, and be able to effectively enhance and cultivate those relationships.</li>
<li>Ability to interpret, carry out and implement into classes/programs, the mission and goals of the YMCA.</li>
<li>Demonstrates commitment to creating an inclusive environment for participants of all backgrounds, abilities and experience.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Work as an integral member of a staff team.</li>
<li>Ability to communicate effectively with adults, youth, teens, seniors and special populations.</li>
<li>Degree in Exercise Science or Physical Education preferred but not required.</li>
<li>CPR/AED and First Aid certifications</li>
<li>A minimum of 1 year of experience in fitness.</li>

Facility Management Corporation, known as “FMC Ice Sports,” was formed in 1992 to deliver high quality ice sport facility management and operations, as well as ice-based programs that benefit our communities and promote interest in both hockey and skating. We have established a record of quality operations and have grown to be the largest operator of public arenas in the United States. FMC operates 25 public ice-skating arenas across the state of Massachusetts in long-term partnership agreements with the Commonwealth and various municipalities as well as educational institutions.
 
FMC is looking for Lead Instructors to work under the general supervision of each program's Supervisor. These positions assist or instruct groups and related lessons for FMC learn to skate and/or learn to play programs. General responsibilities will include interacting with children and adults, demonstrating proper skating techniques, and performing various customer experience related duties.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Effectively uses customer service skills to control customer interactions.</li>
<li>Educates the public to the habits and attitudes of safe ice activities.</li>
<li>Accurately evaluates placements of students for skating instructions.</li>
<li>Prepares/completes program documents like attendance, recommendations, etc.</li>
<li>Enforcement of all rules regarding rink policies and operating procedures.</li>
<li>Executes policies and procedures professionally and accurately.</li>
<li>Maintains a clean and safe environment for patrons and staff.</li>
<li>Responsible for completing all tasks assigned by the Program Supervisor on time.</li>
<li>Attends scheduled staff meetings.</li>
<li>Performs any other related or similar duty as assigned.</li>
</ul>
This is a part-time position. Most FMC programs are held in the afternoon, evenings, and on weekends. Dates and time for programs may vary.
Requirements:
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Previous experience assisting or teaching skating classes is preferred.</li>
<li>Applicants must be able to ice skate proficiently. Figure skaters should have achieved and passed ISI Freestyle 4 or USFS Freeskate 4 and up. Hockey players should have participated in multiple years of formal league play.</li>
</ul>
Compensation: Pay based on experience and industry-related qualifications. Training rate $20-30 per hour based on instructor level. Base pay range upon completion of training $22-32 per hour for instructor-related work. Pay range for non-instructor-related work is $17-18 per hour based on instructor level.
