This role is for a technical expert who will conduct lentiviral (LV Edge) and adeno-associated viral (AAV Edge) vector-based process engineering for gene therapies, design complex experimental approaches to improve our workflows and systems, and coordinate project efforts. While primarily focused on viral vector process engineering, there is a high degree of cross-functionality within the Process Development group that will also include working on biologics processes (CHO Edge).

Current areas of interest include physics-based modeling and numerical simulation of thermofluid and mechatronic systems, control system design and development, nonlinear state estimation, and applications of machine learning. Successful candidates will be expected to perform original, relevant research in the areas of nonlinear state estimation and system inversion for complex multiphysical systems.
The Multiphysical Systems Group at MERL conducts fundamental, academically-oriented research in model-based design and analysis of complex multiphysical systems, emphasizing thermofluid, electrical power, and mechatronic applications. Using state-of-the-art languages, we construct system-level dynamic models and use them to design new estimation and control algorithms, analyze dynamic behaviors, optimize product performance, and prototype new products and services that are enabled by these tools and methods. Current research interests include data-driven optimization and estimation for large-scale, nonlinear system models, development of next-generation tools for scientific computing, and design and analysis of robust nonlinear control and model predictive control. Specific areas of interest include state and parameter estimation for physics-based models comprised of hybrid (discrete and continuous state) nonlinear differential algebraic equations, particle filtering and ensemble estimation methods, variational methods for data assimilation and model inversion, and other cutting-edge estimation technologies. Some scenarios require our service technicians to use ladders to more efficiently and effectively complete a job. Pest-End provides ladder safety training for our team.
Job Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Driving company vehicle to customer locations.</li>
<li>Meeting with customers to diagnose and explain services needed.</li>
<li>Inspecting interior and exterior of customers' properties. This position requires the use of a ladders and climbing on roofs, or entering tight places like a crawl space.</li>
<li>Capturing nuisance wildlife in a safe manner.</li>
<li>Performing basic exclusion and repair work on the areas where wildlife enter the customers' home or business.</li>
<li>Obtaining state wildlife certification</li>
<li>Obtaining state pesticide licenses to assist our Intergrated Pest Management team.</li>
<li>Maintain notes and records about customers and the services they have had.</li>
<li>Keeping an open line of communication between yourself, office staff, and managers.</li>
<li>Ability to lift 40 lbs + comfortably.</li>

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, bend, kneel and crawl within tight spaces. Specific hearing and vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds. Additionally, wildlife technicians should be comfortable with ladder work and on roofs and be able to lift and maneuver up to a 40-foot ladder.&nbsp;

Wildlife Service Technician

JOB SUMMARY
The Environmental Monitoring Microbiologist conducts cleanroom monitoring activities to ensure the air, surfaces, and critical utilities utilized for pharmaceutical product manufacturing meet cGMP requirements. These samples are collected according to FDA, cGMP and Boston Analytical, Inc. Standard Operating Procedures.
 
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Collects Environmental Monitoring Samples at client manufacturing sites on a daily basis in the greater Boston area.</li>
<li>Sample collection types include: air viable, surface viable, water and compressed gas samples. Samples are then subsequently submitted to the lab for analysis.</li>
<li>Understands the importance of aseptic technique and the critical role it plays in EM sample collection.</li>
<li>Documents work in a clear and organized manner.</li>
<li>Follows all safety rules and regulations and conducts periodic safety audits.</li>
<li>Follows all cGMP rules and regulations.</li>
<li>Under close supervision will be trained to become proficient at assigned tasks in order to become subject matter experts.</li>
<li>Performs routine data generation and problem solving with a minimal rework.</li>
<li>Works under close supervision to ensure all work performed is executed in compliance with standard operating procedures, good manufacturing practices, and the regulations of the Food and Drug Administration.</li>
<li>Ensures all work performed strictly adheres to Company, client and Pharmacopeial methodologies.</li>
<li>Proper handling of hazardous waste in compliance with the Company and DES hazardous waste rules.</li>

REQUIREMENTS &amp; QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications include a BA or BS degree in Microbiology or related science discipline with 0-2 years of related experience is required. Knowledge of cGMP and related compliance regulations and guidances is preferred.
