Essential Functions

Job Description 
AbbVie is looking for a Senior Scientist I to join our growing therapeutic siRNA group within the Biotherapeutics and Genetic Medicine (BGM) department. This role will involve designing and executing innovative experimental approaches to address key scientific challenges related to siRNA delivery to various tissues. The successful candidate will drive scientific innovation, identify new methods and techniques, and collaborate across functions to support the development of novel RNA-based therapies.
Responsibilities:

<li>Conceive and execute novel scientific research that achieves project goals in the area of siRNA delivery</li>
<li>Resolve key project hurdles and assumptions utilizing available information and technical expertise</li>
<li>Work autonomously to perform laboratory research or develop methods with minimal supervision, consistently delivering high-quality results.</li>
<li>Demonstrate expertise in a wide range of relevant technologies and methodologies.</li>
<li>Maintain high productivity in the laboratory, ensuring efficiency in experiment execution.</li>
<li>Analyze and interpret multidisciplinary data, generating conclusions that drive future experimental directions.</li>
<li>Contribute as a primary author to publications, presentations and/or as a primary inventor of patents.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications 
<ul>
<li>BS, MS, or PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field with typically&nbsp;10+ (BS), 8+ (MS), or 0-3&nbsp;(PhD) years of relevant experience.</li>
<li>Experience in cell and molecular biology including mammalian cell culture, mRNA isolation/quantitation by qPCR, sequencing (NGS/Sanger), protein quantification by ELISA and western blot is required.</li>
<li>Experience with oligonucleotide therapeutics is a plus.</li>
<li>Familiarity with microscopy is a plus.</li>
<li>Outstanding aptitude for experimental design and execution, efficient assay development and creative problem solving.</li>
<li>Capacity to be highly productive in a fluid and fast-paced work environment.</li>
<li>Committed and collaborative team player.</li>

Abbvie Product Development Science and Technology (PDS&amp;T) Analytical Development – Waltham is responsible for CMC analytical development activities for antibody drug conjugates (ADCs).
