Job Description
The ideal candidate will partner with a dedicated team providing a nurturing Montessori based experience. They will be responsible for creating an inspiring environment that helps each child reach their fullest potential a their own pace, while ensuring the classroom complies with state licensing requirements. The teacher will work under the supervision of the Director and Head of School, with working hours from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, including prep time.
Qualifications: Montessori age 3-6 teaching credential * Classroom experience * Lead Teacher certification from the Office of Early Education and Care * Current CPR/First Aid Certification.
Responsibilities: Preparing the classroom environment, materials, and equipment * Making sure materials are in good repair and complete * Planning and implementing curriculum * Ensuring children are active participants in all aspects of setting up and caring for the classroom * Delivering appropriate presentations * Establishing and maintaining a record-keeping system to track children's progress * Preparing student portfolios, evaluations and conducting conferences * Taking photos, documenting activity and sharing with families through a weekly report * Supervising classroom assistants, interns, substitutes, and family volunteers * Educating families in Montessori philosophy* Being available to families through written communication, including email * Making sure children prepare and go outside in all weather.
Requirements: Strong interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills are essential for interactions with children, families, team members and the community * Be able to get up and down easily when inside or outside * Positive and open attitude toward everyone.
