About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Building Superintendent to oversee daily operations at our prime Beacon Street property, directly across from Boston Common and the Public Garden. This is a hands-on role that requires a mature, dependable individual who can maintain the building, respond to tenant needs, and ensure everything runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the property
- Perform repairs including plumbing, electrical, painting, plastering, and general handyman work
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for larger projects
- Ensure common areas and grounds are kept clean, safe, and in excellent condition
- Respond promptly to resident concerns and emergency situations
- Maintain building security and be a visible presence on-site
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a building superintendent, facilities manager, or similar maintenance role
- Strong knowledge of building systems and basic repair work (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with residents and vendors
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and solve problems effectively
- Familiarity with Boston and surrounding neighborhoods a plus
Compensation & Benefits
This is a live-in position that includes a two-bedroom apartment on-site (valued at approximately $2,500/month or $30,000 annually) with utilities, cable, and internet included. The unit features:
- Two bedrooms (one with closet)
- Bath with tub/shower
- Galley kitchen with stove and refrigerator
- Access to laundry in the basement
- Recently updated flooring, vanity, and other improvements
- Courtyard-facing with access to the main building entrance
In addition to housing, salary will be competitive and based on experience.
