Job Summary:
The Senior Utility Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of all utility systems within a cutting-edge biotechnology facility. This position supports a team of maintenance professionals, performing hands-on troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on critical systems that support production and research operations. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and problem-solving skills to maintain safe, compliant, and efficient facility operations.Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections and develop preventive maintenance plans for utility systems and equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on process and utility systems in accordance with cGMP procedures.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical utility systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with equipment owners, engineers, and external vendors to coordinate maintenance and upgrades.
- Maintain accurate cGMP records, including maintenance logs, calibration data, and equipment histories.
- Monitor system performance data to recommend improvements and optimize equipment reliability.
- Support the development and documentation of maintenance procedures and SOPs.
- Train and mentor junior technicians, emphasizing best practices, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in emergency response activities and provide support for equipment remediation or incident investigations.
- Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all regulatory and environmental standards.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting utility systems in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated environment.
- Proven experience working with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex utility systems.
- Familiarity with cGMP documentation and maintenance tracking systems.
Education and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or vocational training preferred.
- Military training equivalent will be considered.
- Additional training in electrical, mechanical, or HVAC systems preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with RODI, pH neutralization, HVAC, and electrical systems.
- Knowledge of asset management and reliability engineering concepts.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and mentoring abilities.
- Familiarity with biotech manufacturing utilities (WFI, clean steam, compressed gases, etc.).
