Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist in Charge experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An urgent opening is available for a Pharmacy Manager / Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to join a specialty pharmacy team on a contract basis in Boston, MA. This role requires immediate availability and offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic specialty pharmacy environment that emphasizes patient care and operational excellence.

Location: Boston, MA (Onsite)

Job Type: Contract (initially 13 weeks with potential extension to 26 weeks)
Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with on-call rotation on weekends

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee prescription review, verification, dispensing, and regulatory compliance in adherence to State Board of Pharmacy, FDA, DEA, URAC, ACHC, and other standards.
  • Provide patient counseling and manage medication therapies for specialty disease states.
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns to ensure efficient operations.
  • Collaborate closely with Intake, Referral Services, Nursing/Clinical teams, Reimbursement, and Pharmacy Operations to streamline prescription fulfillment and patient onboarding.
  • Maintain thorough documentation, quality assurance, and manage incident resolution.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support pharmacy operations as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License required; Connecticut license preferred or willingness to obtain promptly.
  • Bachelor of Science or PharmD degree from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in specialty, infusion, hospital, or similar pharmacy settings.
  • Specialty, home infusion, or compounding background required; retail-only experience is not sufficient.
  • Familiarity with specialty therapies, payer requirements, and clinical coordination.
  • Experience supervising pharmacy technicians and working in specialty pharmacy operations.
  • Knowledge or experience with CareTend software is preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment, leadership skills, and proficiency with pharmacy software and Microsoft Office.
