Provide skilled nursing care to adults with diverse mental health conditions in a dynamic 30-bed inpatient psychiatric unit. This position offers an engaging opportunity to utilize your expertise in adult psychiatric nursing within a supportive clinical environment. The role requires commitment to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to patients aged 18 to 65, including those with complex dual diagnoses and acute medical needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult psychiatric patients, including managing psychotropic medications and monitoring side effects
  • Perform admissions and discharges efficiently while maintaining thorough documentation in EPIC electronic health records
  • Operate IV pumps and provide diabetic care as needed
  • Assume charge nurse responsibilities when required, overseeing patient care and unit operations
  • Utilize the automatic medication dispensing system (Omni Cell) proficiently
  • Collaborate within a patient ratio of 1 RN to 7-8 patients, ensuring individualized attention
  • Adhere to Massachusetts Department of Mental Health regulations, including rights related to restraint, seclusion, legal statuses, and court-ordered medications
  • Participate in floating and rotating shifts to maintain continuity of care; shift options include days, evenings, and nights with a rotation schedule that supports work-life balance

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in inpatient adult psychiatric nursing
  • Current Massachusetts RN license
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Certification in de-escalation techniques
  • Proficiency with psychotropic medication management and electronic charting systems (preferably EPIC)
  • Knowledge of psychiatric legal and regulatory requirements
