Colonial Theatre - Boston
POSITION: Usher
LOCATION:Boston, MA
HOURS: Part time, with evenings, weekends & holidays
COMPENSATION: $17.79 hourly
ABOUT THE POSITION
· Seeking friendly, enthusiastic Ushers to join our Front of House team at the Emerson Colonial Theatre.
· Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
· Be able to use sound judgement and communicate in a courteous manner.
· Utilize a proactive approach to problem solving.
· Uphold and enforce the venue/production policies and procedures.
· Report incidents or problems to the Chief Usher.
· Perform duties as assigned, including but not limited to:
scan tickets using electronic scanners; direct/escort guests to ticketed locations; provide accurate information to patrons regarding venue logistics (i.e. location of restrooms, concessions, etc.), details about the event, general building history, etc.; assist with VIP lounge; provide line and crowd management; assist with VIP events, meet & greets, and other duties as assigned.
· Ensure the safety of guests at all times. Attend mandatory safety and security training.
· This position is part of IATSE Local B4 Union.
EXPERIENCE and SKILLS
· Previous paid ushering experience desired.
· Exemplary customer service skills.
· Pleasant and courteous demeanor.
· Ability to maintain composure under stress.
· Appreciation for live theatre and productions.
COMPETENCIES
· Ability to stand on feet for 3+ hours at a time.
· Ability to move or lift items weighing up to 15 pounds. These items include tables, signs, stanchions, etc.
