JOB OVERVIEW
The BQ Assistant Technical Director supports the Technical Director in overseeing the technical aspects of the Boyd-Quinson Stage production process. This role involves managing the scene shop, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring that all technical elements are executed smoothly and efficiently. This position requires a driven individual with strong leadership skills and extensive knowledge of theatrical set construction and management.
REQUIREMENTS
Support the Technical Director in overseeing the technical aspects of the Boyd-Quinson Stage production process.
Manage the scene shop and coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient execution of all technical elements.
Assist in the planning and execution of set designs, manage budgets, and supervise the work of carpenters and other technical staff.
Oversee load-ins and load-outs to ensure seamless transitions between productions.
Enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Attend rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and production meetings as needed, responding promptly to all artistic and technical notes.
Train run crew members on the proper handling and operation of sound equipment.
Other duties as assigned by Production Management
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
Extensive knowledge of theatrical set construction and management.
Proficiency in budgeting and cost estimation.
Ability to interpret set designs and create detailed plans.
Experience with load-ins and load-outs.
Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices.
Must be willing to work with students and volunteers
Must have reliable transportation and/or a valid drivers license
Ability to drive a 26 box truck is preferred
