The Production Supervisor oversees daily production activities in one or more production areas in POC’s manufacturing facilities. S/he ensures that production goals are met and ensures compliance with company procedures, policies and regulatory standards. S/he manages one or more Lead Production Technicians and manages one or more production lines. S/he trains mentors, and evaluates production team members, and partners with engineering functions on continuous improvement initiatives and projects. This role requires people and problem-solving skills, and a strong commitment to quality and safety.
Principal Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities across one or more production lines to meet production targets for line output, labor efficiency and quality performance.
- Monitor operational performance and adjust personnel and schedules across production lines as needed to drive efficiency, ensure quality, meet output goals, and instill a strong culture of accountability.
- Address and resolve operational challenges promptly to minimize disruptions and maintain productivity; recommend improvement measures for overcoming daily operational performance challenges.
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation; collect production performance data and analyze metrics to identify & implement improvements to meet output and quality targets.
- Train, mentor and evaluate production team members, and monitor training effectiveness; facilitate training programs to ensure production team members have the necessary skills and knowledge.
- Implement and sustain continuous improvement initiatives and projects relating to products, processes and tools, and quality performance.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality and design engineering teams to resolve processes and quality issues, facilitate new product introduction, capacity expansions, line re-layouts and relocations.
- Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements (ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 / FDA regulations).
- Foster a culture of teamwork within production areas that enables team members to work collaboratively across departments and all levels of management.
- Ensure a safe working environment in production areas through adherence to safety protocols, regulations and company policies.
- Participate in and support internal and external quality audits & inspections as required.
- Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of supervisory experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably medical devices.
- 5+ years of manufacturing assembly experience.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 / FDA regulations.
- Knowledge of processes and systems in manufacturing environments.
- Experience in leading and managing teams, with strong interpersonal skills to motivate and guide employees effectively and establish a collaborative culture.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required. Associate, two-year technical degree, or equivalent level of education preferred.
Competencies
- Demonstrated ability to be a proactive and collaborative leader in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across multiple functions and levels of the organization.
- Excellent computer skills, especially with data collection and analysis using Microsoft 365 apps.
- Understanding safety regulations and practices to promote a safety culture.
Supervisory Responsibility
Supervise Lead Production Technicians and Production Team members across one or more production areas.
Working Conditions
This job operates in manufacturing environments including ISO class 7 cleanrooms. PPE required when in controlled environment rooms or cleanrooms.
Physical surroundings
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Manufacturing environments require the use of electrical and mechanical equipment and tools.
Physical Effort
While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, manufacturing tools, equipment, products, and systems; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
Work Schedule / Travel
In-person, Monday to Friday.
