Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Control System Engineer with deep experience in Ignition SCADA and PLC-based control systems. In this role, you will be a key member in developing a Power Plant Controller using Ignition SCADA and a PLC based controller. This role is pivotal in delivering industry grade, highly efficient and customizable solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy SCADA applications using Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform.
  • Setting up and configuring the Ignition platform in VMs using a hypervisor.
  • Integrate Ignition with PLCs, databases, EMS controllers and other IEDs.
  • Develop intuitive HMIs and dashboards for plant visualization and control.
  • Design and implement control algorithms for Power Plant Controller used in grid scale battery storage applications.
  • PLC based control system design using IEC 61131-2.
  • Configure OPC UA, DNP3 and other protocols for real time data acquisition and integration with other controls systems.
  • Perform system commissioning, testing and validation.
  • Maintain excellent documentation capturing controller designs, project timelines and presentations for stakeholder communication.
  • Interface with program management, project management and project engineers to help deliver controls functionality and performance according to the project specifications.

Key Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in control systems engineering and ignition SCADA (Vision and/or Perspective modules).
  • Strong knowledge of industrial networking protocols (OPC UA, DNP3, Modbus, Goose) and data base integration (SQL).
  • Experience with PLC programming (structured text, ladder logic).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices in industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with Linux environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work as a key member on a development team.
  • Ability to interface well with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated history of delivering quality products to market with understanding and respect for all phases of the product development process, especially requirements, specification development, and release control.


Desired:

  • Experience with Schweitzer RTAC devices


Experience using medium voltage equipment such as inverters and transformers

Education and Experience

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3-year professional experience

Travel

  • Occasional travel may be required.
