Our client, a highly successful asset management firm, is seeking a General Counsel in their Boston, MA office. In this role, you will be ensuring that the company's legal affairs are managed effectively, risks are identified and mitigated, and internal teams are well supported in their compliance and fiduciary responsibilities.


Role: General Counsel

Location: Boston, MA

Salary: $250,000 Base Salary with equal bonus

Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)


Responsibilities:

  • Act as the chief legal advisor to executive leadership and the Boards of Directors, providing strategic counsel on legal and governance matters
  • Lead and oversee the Legal, Risk Management, and Compliance functions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives
  • Provide legal and strategic guidance on enterprise risk, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance
  • Serve as Secretary to the Boards, overseeing the maintenance of corporate records and governance protocols
  • Manage external legal counsel and oversee complex legal matters, including contracts, fiduciary responsibilities, and regulatory filings
  • Foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and proactive compliance across the organization

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience in the financial services industry, ideally with expertise in trust, banking, or investment advisory services
  • In-depth understanding of legal, fiduciary, and regulatory frameworks applicable to financial institutions
  • Proven experience leading and managing legal and compliance teams
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to advise and influence senior executives and Boards of Directors
  • Demonstrated sound judgment, unwavering integrity, and a collaborative, leadership-oriented approach
