Pine Forest Children's Center (PFCC) has been providing high quality early childhood education for a diverse community of families in the South End of Burlington since 1988. We are seeking a licensed early childhood educator for a part-time teaching position to work with our preschool teaching teams. This would be 15-20 hours a week on-site, plus 5 hours a week from home to enter documented learning.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated, responsible, flexible team player that loves working with young children and will possess strong communication skills. Duties
In this position, you will be the licensed early childhood educator in our accredited Agency of Education preschool. PFCC will provide training for using Vermont’s required learning and assessment tool, Teaching Strategies Gold as well as time to document learning.
Applicant will be responsible for supervision of students in their classroom, curriculum planning, classroom management, collaboration with colleagues, and adherence to VT Licensing Regulations and Vermont Early Learning Standards (VELS). Early childhood educators have the ability to design their classroom learning environments with their team as well as curriculum design and planning. We use observation and assessment tools (ASQ TSG) to document each child's growth and learning. We believe in making learning visible for children, families and community members as a way to advocate for children and our field.
- Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
- Document children’s learning through Teaching Strategies Gold
- Work on a team to support the needs of the classroom and the individual children.
- Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
- Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, parent conversations, and developmental summaries.
- Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
- Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center as well as throughout the day.
- Follow all center policies and state regulations.
- Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality. improvement and professional growth.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience preferred.
- Vermont Early Childhood or Early Childhood Special Education Teaching License or license from a state with reciprocity.
- Ability to work well with others and offer and receive constructive feedback.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- An understanding of child development.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must clear a full background check.
- Applicant will need to be able to lift 50 lbs, stoop, bend, and lift.
