Job Description

DarrowEverett LLP is looking for a Trust & Estates Attorney for our Boston or Providence offices with immediate availability. The candidate must have excellent communication and administrative skills, be highly organized and detail-oriented, be able to multitask without sacrificing efficiency, be responsible, and be able to represent the firm, always, in ways that enhance its reputation.


Role & Responsibilities

  • Provide legal guidance and advice to clients on estate planning, business formation, special needs planning, high net worth estate planning, and related areas of law.
  • Draft legal documents, including trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and other estate planning and business succession documents.
  • Drafting sophisticated estate and tax planning documents, such as SLATs, IDGTs, charitable remainder and lead trusts, and decanting instruments.
  • Representing personal representatives and trusts before probate and family courts, on a variety of estate, trust and guardianship matters.
  • Assist clients in creating and implementing strategies to protect and preserve assets.
  • Comply with all client and firm standard operating procedures.
  • Legal and tax research.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and J.D. Degree
  • Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in trust and estate matters, business formation, and related areas of law, including high net worth estate planning.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working directly with high-net-worth clients on estate preservation and planning strategies, including preparing revocable and irrevocable trusts for asset protection and tax strategies, and managing reorganization of asset ownership.
  • Handling surrogate court proceedings.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize factual and legal data into clear and logical arguments.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters on a confidential basis.
  • An active license as an attorney in Massachusetts. Active licenses in Florida and Rhode Island are a plus.
  • A high degree of initiative, mature judgment, and discretion.
  • Organization and time management skills.
