This contract opportunity offers a dynamic role caring for patients in a specialized Cardiac Medical Unit. Working within a 20-bed cardiac step-down environment, the position focuses on patients recovering from complex cardiac and medical conditions. This unit blends med/surg telemetry, stroke overflow, and cardiac management procedures, ideal for nurses with advanced clinical skills seeking a challenging and rewarding assignment.
Location: Situated in Salem, NH, this role offers the chance to serve a community with access to high-level cardiac and trauma care, recognized as a Stemi Hospital, Stroke Center, and Level II Trauma Center. The locale combines a suburban atmosphere with convenient access to urban amenities and natural surroundings.
Responsibilities include monitoring and managing patients with cardiac conditions such as CHF, COPD, and chest pain rule-outs. Nurses will perform advanced procedures including thoracentesis, peritoneal dialysis, tracheostomy care, pacemaker monitoring, and post-cardiac catheterization care (radial access only). This role requires efficient use of equipment like IV pumps, sara steadys, high-flow and BiPAP devices, and documentation in Meditech Expanse. Shift work involves three 12-hour shifts with every other weekend schedule, aligned with bedside shift rounds and handoff communication to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with current credentials
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring essential
- Experience with advanced cardiac procedures and critical care skills preferred
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS
- Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care while working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team
