The Role
We are currently hiring for a Principal IT/OT Engineer I position within our IT/OT Managed Services team. We are looking for a high-impact individual to lead and architect post-project services (including infrastructure, virtualization, networking, cybersecurity and other IT/OT and automation services). The candidate should expect to collaborate with customers and our sales team, architect solutions for our installed customer base, and act as a product expert across the portfolio of Emerson products and third-party platforms. The candidate should expect to be familiar with product roadmaps and frequent engagement with our vendors.
The Principal IT/OT Engineer I will be expected to drive new services and offerings for customers and help the client understand the value provided by the services. The Principal IT/OT Engineer I will support and advise customers on a range of IT/OT and virtualization platform recommendations that will solve customer pain, drive towards business outcomes, optimize business value, and enhance customer satisfaction with their IT/OT investments. The Principal IT/OT Engineer I will be expected to create client technology roadmaps and support budget planning. The Principal IT/OT Engineer I will lead or support major project at clients to ensure a smooth handoff from CapEx to OpEx. The Principal IT/OT Engineer I will mentor engineers and act as a point of escalation.
IT/OT Solutions may include defined entitlement-based services or outcome-based managed services with defined scope that focuses in areas of system administration, cyber security solutions, performance and reliability services, help desk and emergency services, product troubleshooting and integration, system installation and commissioning, system upgrades, operational solutions for alarm management, loop performance, process simulation; lifecycle consulting, and business continuity services.
Education, Experience & Skills
- BS Degree in Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent. MS or MBA preferred.
- 15+ years experience with industrial control system/infrastructure solutions, with at least 8+ years acting a system owner or architect.
- Must have 5+ experience in validated GMP environments. Plus if exposed to other regulated industries.
- Proven leadership in project execution, project management, and technical coaching.
- Possesses deep knowledge of DeltaV, integrations, and infrastructure virtualization
- Demonstrated development of new products, processes, standards, or operational plans
- Applicants should either reside locally or express a willingness to relocate.
- Must be able to travel extensively within the New England region.
- Must be available to support our 24x7 on-call rotation for escalations in client emergencies.
What You’ll Do
- Independently lead multi-discipline technologies on medium to large projects, directing activities of multiple engineers. Accountable for ensuring successful technical delivery and developing customer relationships, enabling continued post-project support services.
- Act as internal and external technical expert in specific technologies. Accountable for successful application of technology in the organization and supporting customer roadmap of further adoption or enhancement.
- Support infrastructure network design, installation, commissioning and maintenance activities in a Microsoft OS environment, often utilizing either VMWare or HyperV virtualization platforms. Be able to provide technical leadership and mentoring to less senior engineers.
- Design, build, and support innovative solutions for customers using Quality Control methodologies. Involves extensive documentation, internal testing, Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing and site commissioning services.
- Troubleshoot IT/OT and automation control systems at the virtual, physical network, controller, and I/O level, in order to resolve customer problems in an efficient manner and keep their system running or the project on schedule.
- Provide lifecycle engineering solutions in the areas of server, workstation, networking, software configuration, digital bus, DeltaV hardware, virtualization, alarm management or other areas of expertise.
- Provide timely and thorough communication to customers in both written and oral format.
- Demonstrate an organized and methodical approach to troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Work towards completion of the DeltaV Field Service Associate certification, as well as other certifications as assigned.
- Actively involve/inform Account Managers of potential opportunities identified through customer engagements to help drive service expansion and increased customer satisfaction.
- Drive long-term growth of Stellix Global Services’ IT/OT business through business development, maintaining and improving customer relations, and supporting internal programs for continuous improvement and efficiency.
- Execute installed-base lifecycle projects within budget and schedule and take ownership for project quality and customer value outcome.
- Support escalations from 24x7 on-call roster for customer emergencies.
- Comply with all Stellix Global Services requirements for business processes including time entry, site visit reports and all other documentation according to internal procedures.
