JOB TITLE: Forklift Mechanic

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

EFFECTIVE DATE: 5/2/2022

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for inspecting and repairing vehicles, machinery, and light trucks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Inspects and performs maintenance on assigned equipment and facilities including but not limited to forklifts, warehouse, vehicles, and machinery.
• Performs assigned repairs and maintenance such as tune-ups and oil change, checks tires and brakes, replaces spark plugs, replace batteries, starters, lights and engages in other similar tasks.
• Identifies mechanical problems visually and/or with computer diagnostic equipment.
• Performs test on tools and equipment to ensure repairs are completed properly including test drives.
• Assists in inventory of replacement parts and equipment.
• Assists in maintaining repair log for all equipment.
• Advises Facilities and Maintenance Foreman of equipment and facilities malfunctions that may require purchase of new parts, pieces, or equipment.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area by returning tools to proper location.
• Assist in coaching new hires during the on-boarding process.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Preferred: Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Computer skills required: Time & Labor Management System; and Electronic Mail Software (Outlook).
• Other skills required:

  3. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Ability to work closely with peers on team orientated goals.
  5. Ability to follow company directives and instruction.
  6. In-depth knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
• Occasionally exposed to the following outside weather conditions: extreme heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid.
• While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
