Job Title: Assistant Project Manager – Construction & Paving

Location: Chicopee, MA

Job Type: Full-time

Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Seasonal variation applies)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Project Manager to support ongoing commercial paving operations. This role involves a blend of field and office responsibilities, requiring strong coordination skills and an understanding of civil construction practices. The position will play a critical role in maintaining project schedules, quality control, and regulatory compliance while supporting senior project leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing all phases of paving and construction projects from planning through completion
  • Conduct site assessments and support preparation of construction plans
  • Collaborate with engineers, estimators, subcontractors, and field crews to meet project goals
  • Maintain and manage project documentation, logs, and reports
  • Monitor safety and quality control on job sites, identifying and correcting deficiencies
  • Support coordination of traffic control measures and safety protocols
  • Serve as liaison with stakeholders including clients, inspectors, and municipalities
  • Help track costs and budgets, ensuring alignment with project scope and goals
  • Assist in scheduling, resource allocation, and field-to-office communication

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); experience with Adobe and B2W a plus
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving history (3 years minimum)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Frequently outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.)
  • Regularly exposed to moderate-to-high noise levels
  • Physical activities include walking uneven terrain, bending, lifting (50+ lbs), standing for long periods

Schedule & Compensation

  • Full-time position with benefits
  • Typical hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Winter schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • 45–55 hour workweeks during peak season (April–Mid December)
  • Some Saturdays may be required based on project needs
  • Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience
