Job Title: Assistant Project Manager – Construction & Paving
Location: Chicopee, MA
Job Type: Full-time
Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Seasonal variation applies)
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Project Manager to support ongoing commercial paving operations. This role involves a blend of field and office responsibilities, requiring strong coordination skills and an understanding of civil construction practices. The position will play a critical role in maintaining project schedules, quality control, and regulatory compliance while supporting senior project leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing all phases of paving and construction projects from planning through completion
- Conduct site assessments and support preparation of construction plans
- Collaborate with engineers, estimators, subcontractors, and field crews to meet project goals
- Maintain and manage project documentation, logs, and reports
- Monitor safety and quality control on job sites, identifying and correcting deficiencies
- Support coordination of traffic control measures and safety protocols
- Serve as liaison with stakeholders including clients, inspectors, and municipalities
- Help track costs and budgets, ensuring alignment with project scope and goals
- Assist in scheduling, resource allocation, and field-to-office communication
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); experience with Adobe and B2W a plus
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving history (3 years minimum)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Frequently outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.)
- Regularly exposed to moderate-to-high noise levels
- Physical activities include walking uneven terrain, bending, lifting (50+ lbs), standing for long periods
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time position with benefits
- Typical hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Winter schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- 45–55 hour workweeks during peak season (April–Mid December)
- Some Saturdays may be required based on project needs
