Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A licensed Special Education Teacher position is available to support middle school students in a specialized LINKS program designed for learners with significant support needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This full-time, contract opportunity runs from ASAP through the end of the school year, with the possibility of extension.

Located in Westfield, MA, the role centers on providing instructional leadership, implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborating closely with paraprofessionals and 1:1 staff within small classrooms of six students. Each classroom team includes two paraprofessionals and a dedicated 1:1 support staff member per student, ensuring comprehensive, student-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the licensed teacher of record for the LINKS program
  • Deliver high-quality instruction tailored to students with ASD and other special needs
  • Implement and monitor IEP goals effectively
  • Collaborate with support staff to optimize student outcomes
  • Provide toileting assistance and manage sensory and behavioral needs, including self-injurious behaviors (SIB)

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Massachusetts Special Education teaching license
  • Experience working with students with ASD and sensory processing challenges
  • Ability to support students requiring toileting assistance
  • Familiarity with managing self-injurious behaviors
  • Strong collaborative skills to work alongside paraprofessionals and 1:1 aides

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of drug screening, fingerprinting, and background (CORI) checks
  • Reliable transportation with punctual arrival and departure
  • Effective communication protocols for absences
