Job Title: High School Outdoor Track and Field Coach
Location: Codman Academy
Reports to: Athletic Director

Salary: $3,500 (stipend payments)

Job Summary:
The High School Outdoor Track and Field Coach at Codman Academy is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to student-athletes and assistant coaches in the outdoor track and field program. The coach will develop student-athletes' fundamental skills, strategies, and physical conditioning to achieve both individual and team success. Additionally, the coach will cultivate moral values, self-discipline, and self-confidence, aligning with Codman Academy’s educational mission and community Hallmarks. The Head Coach will work closely with the Athletic Director to set program goals and direction, ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all participants. While public exposure and community expectations can be significant, the coach must prioritize good sportsmanship, mental well-being, and the educational purpose of athletics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coaching experience at the high school level or competitive experience in track and field at the collegiate level.
  • Certifications in NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, Concussion Training, Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training, First Aid, and CPR.
  • Proven ability to teach and model character and responsible behavior.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to student-athlete development.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with parents, staff, and community members.
  • A holistic view of success, focusing on helping athletes achieve personal growth beyond winning.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Training & Development: Coordinate the training, instruction, conditioning, and selection of athletes for various outdoor track and field events.
  • Program Management: Collaborate with the Athletic Director to establish and manage yearly schedules for practices, meets, and team activities.
  • Leadership & Representation: Attend all athletic department and league meetings, representing the track and field program’s interests and goals.
  • Communication: Maintain consistent and clear communication with athletes, parents, and athletic department staff regarding program expectations, schedules, and performance.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all student-athletes by adhering to safety protocols and ensuring compliance with league, school, and athletic regulations.

*Season runs from March-May
