Momentum Manufacturing Group Engineered Extrusions is looking for a Controls and Instrumentation Engineer for our Franklin facility. We are located in the heart of New Hampshire's lakes region, close to lakes and mountains, come work where you play! Position Summary:

The Controls and Instrumentation Engineer are responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems and instrumentation used in aluminum extrusion processes. This role ensures optimal performance, reliability, and safety of automated systems, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and drives across the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) for extrusion presses, handling systems, and CNCs.
  • Develop and maintain HMI/SCADA systems for real-time process monitoring and control.
  • Calibrate, install, and maintain instrumentation such as temperature sensors, pressure transducers, flow meters, and load cells.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime.
  • Lead or support automation upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensure all control systems comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of control logic, wiring diagrams, and system configurations.
  • Provide technical support during equipment commissioning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Train maintenance and operations staff on control systems and instrumentation best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls and Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
  • Foundational knowledge of PLC programming (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text) and HMI systems through coursework, labs, or internships.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation, sensors, and control systems.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or other industrial control platforms.
  • Basic understanding of process control in metal forming or extrusion operations preferred.
