POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director of Education, manage the daily operations of the School’s Out Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Supervise children, and promote learning opportunities, in conjunction with the Site Coordinator at an assigned site(s).
2. Role model acceptable behaviors and decision-making for participants and peers.
3. Actively participate in all related in-services, training, and activities.
4. Utilize appropriate guidance and developmental techniques with participants to create an orderly environment conducive to learning and child safety.
5. Provide substitute coverage to other sites on an as-needed basis.
6. Enforce and support the policies contained in the Y Parent Guide, Behavior Management Guide, and Staff Handbook.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 16 years of age, work under the direct supervision of a group leader, and either
  1. Have a high school diploma or equivalent; or
  2. Be currently enrolled in a high school program or equivalent; or
• 18 years of age or over and work under the general supervision of the group leader
• First Aid/CPR/AED certifications or willing to obtain within 60 days of hire
• Demonstrated ability to conduct complex, critical problem-solving independently
• Knowledge of and ability to learn appropriate child development techniques
• Demonstrated track record of timeliness and punctuality.
