We currently have an opening for Automation Engineer in our RCD facility, located in Manchester, NH. This position is critical to the success of RCD and will be supporting the engineering and production teams and reporting directly to the Director of Operations. The ideal candidate for this position should be experienced in their field, motivated, intuitive, have product knowledge, and collaborative.
Details of the Role: The position of Automation Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the planning, designing, developing, implementing, and management of our automated production systems. During the course of a standard workday, you will be expected to access, update, and improve automation techniques on the production floor, consult with production and engineering teams on improvements to the production processes, and design new automative technologies to improve productivity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for resistor manufacturing processes.
- Retrofit and upgrade legacy production equipment with modern controls and automation.
- Work closely with manufacturing, maintenance, and R&D teams to troubleshoot and optimize equipment performance.
- Lead or assist in the full lifecycle of machine development: from concept to design, build, install, and support.
- Maintain documentation for controls, logic, and electrical schematics.
- Support the transfer of new automation solutions from prototyping to production.
- Mentor technicians and junior engineers on hands-on automation practices.
- Evaluate and integrate third-party robotics and automation systems into existing production lines.
Qualifying Attributes and Skills
- 5–10+ years of experience in automation engineering, with direct involvement in machine building and hands-on integration.
- Prior experience working in resistor manufacturing or a closely related electronics component environment.
- Proficiency with PLC programming, robotic systems, and industrial automation controls.
- Comfortable working on the production floor, including wiring panels, calibrating sensors, and debugging live systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical fabrication/assembly knowledge.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a bias toward action.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move up to 15 pounds without trouble.
- Must have the ability to adjust focus, have peripheral vision, and capable of adequately seeing both short and long-distance visibility.
- Must have the ability to work with intricate tools, using motor skills function of hands and arms.
