Job Description
The EMC Test Technician will be responsible for performing a number of tasks associated with customer test programs for FCC and CE Compliance. This is a very hands-on position that will require the person to interact with a number of different customers on many different levels. The position will be primarily a first shift position with the core hours of 8 AM to 5 PM.
Position Title: EMC Test Technician
Principle responsibilities:
- Performs assigned EMC tests
- Configure client’s hardware/software (test platform)
- Take photographs and document configurations with accurate and complete diagrams
- Analyze cause of compliance failures
- Document test data thoroughly and accurately (including dates, pass/fail criteria and results, history of events, test equipment use and calibrations, and other pertinent data)
- Maintain working knowledge of regulatory agency standards pertaining to assigned compliance tests
- Differentiate between related standards and be able to answer customer’s questions accurately
- Perform regular or periodic internal calibrations using calibration procedures
- Justify test configurations and verify that all applicable tests are accomplished
- Have an Associates Degree in Electronics and/or two years or more of testing experience in a fast-paced, client-focused EMC laboratory
- Work well in a team environment, as well as individually
- Be able to support multiple projects with a constant quality focus in a deadline-driven environment
- Possess excellent verbal and written skills when communicating concepts, ideas, and routine details to various levels of technical and non-technical engineering and management personnel
- Have an understanding of EMI/EMC related technology and equipment, such as amplifiers, test chambers, EMI receivers, and antennas
- Have experience working within an ISO17025 Quality System
- Be able to work independently with limited supervision
- Have working knowledge of major Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds
- Follow the test plans/instructions written for selected compliance tests
- Perform additional duties as assigned
