Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist in Charge experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An urgent opening is available for a Pharmacy Manager / Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead specialty pharmacy operations in a contract-to-hire role based onsite in Cambridge, MA. This position requires an experienced pharmacist ready to start immediately, working Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with weekend on-call responsibilities. The initial contract length is 13 weeks with a possibility of extension up to 26 weeks.

Location: Cambridge, MA
Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
  • Weekend on-call rotation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee prescription review, verification, dispensing, and ensure full compliance with regulatory standards including State Board of Pharmacy, FDA, DEA, URAC, and ACHC
  • Provide expert patient counseling and manage medication therapy for specialty disease states
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and interns, fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Collaborate with Intake, Referral, Nursing/Clinical, Reimbursement, and Pharmacy Operations teams to streamline prescription fulfillment and patient onboarding
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy records and operational workflows
  • Participate in on-call rotation as needed
  • Support documentation, quality assurance, and resolve incidents promptly

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License (required), Connecticut license preferred or willingness to obtain quickly
  • BS or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Minimum 3 years experience in specialty pharmacy, infusion, hospital, or similar settings; retail-only backgrounds will not meet requirements
  • Strong knowledge of specialty therapies, patient qualification processes, and pharmacy technician supervision
  • Experience with specialty pharmacy operations, payer requirements, and clinical coordination
  • Familiarity with CareTend software is preferred

This role demands strong clinical judgment, excellent communication and leadership skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office and pharmacy software, and the ability to manage multiple priorities onsite.
